Which hoop is right for you?
If you want to hula hoop for weight loss, we recommend a heavier hula hoop made with 25mm piping and equipped with grip tape to ensure your hoop doesn’t slip down.
If you are just starting out with your first hula hoop, you will also find that the heavier hoop is easier to grasp the basics of waist hooping with due to the extra momentum.
However, if you intend to use your first hula hoop for off-body tricks (throws, hand hooping, body rolls), you will most likely prefer a 20mm, thinner and lighter hula hoop.
Your hoop should ideally come up to your waist when you hold it against you vertically, with the hoop touching the floor.
Our standard size hula hoop is 38 inches in diameter. If you have an apple-shaped physique (waist wider than hips) rather than hourglass/pear-shaped figure then you may want to consider a larger hoop. You will still be able to hula hoop, no matter your body shape, as long as you have the right technique.
